"The Youth's Commitment to Building a Nation: Local Government in Public Service"

The Local Government Day-2025 was celebrated today, January 25, 2025, under the auspices of the Chittagong Deputy Commissioner and in collaboration with the District Council Chittagong, Local Government Engineering Chittagong and Public Health Engineering Chittagong.

The day was officially celebrated with a colorful rally at 10 am.

In continuation of the day, a discussion meeting was organized in the conference room of the Circuit House. Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) and Director, Local Government, Chittagong Mr. Muhammad Anwar Pasha was present as the chief guest on the occasion. The event was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate Mr. Farida Khanam and the Superintendent of Police of Chittagong District Mr. Md. Saiful Islam Santu, BPM-Service was present as the special guest.

At the beginning of the program, Mr. Mohammad Hasan Ali, Executive Engineer, Department of Local Engineering, Chittagong and Mr. Palash Chandra Das, Executive Engineer, Department of Public Health Engineering, Chittagong presented the notable activities of their respective departments through a PowerPoint presentation.

Then, in his speech as a special guest, the Superintendent of Police Chittagong said, "If the local government is strengthened, it is possible to ensure the security of the country to a large extent."

Additional Divisional Commissioner (Overall) Mr. Muhammad Anwar Pasha discussed the scope of local government and highlighted its importance and expressed his hope for the formation of a welfare-oriented local government with a commitment to everyone.

Deputy Commissioner Chittagong Mr. Farida Khanam said in her speech, "Local government system is the foundation of democracy."

Also present at the discussion were Deputy Director, Local Government, Chittagong Mr. Md. Noman Hossain, Chief Executive Officer, District Council, Chittagong Mr. Md. Didarul Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mr. Md. Kamruzzaman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Mr. Md. Sharif Uddin, along with officials and employees of District Administration Chittagong, Local Government Engineering Chittagong and Public Health Engineering Chittagong.
