Geographical Features

Geographical location: Chattogram is located in between 20o35' and 22o59' north latitude and in between 91o27' and 92o22' east longitudes. This district is distinct from other districts of the country in terms of natural features due to presence of mountains, rivers, seas, forests and valleys.  

Geographical boundaries: Chattogram is bounded by Feni district and Tripura State of India to the north, Cox's Bazar district to the south, Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachari districts to the east, Noakhali district and Bay of Bengal to the west.

The total area of Chattogram district is 5283 sq km.  

Annual average temperature: Maximum 33.8oC, Minimum 14.5oC

Total annual rainfall: 3194 mm.

Main rivers: Karnaphuli, Halda and Sangu.
