Foy’s Lake is a man-made lake located in Khulshi area near Pahartali railway station of Chattogram. Foy’s Lake is a wonderful place for picnic and entertainment, attracting thousands of local and international visitors. The lake was excavated in 1924 under the supervision of Assam Bengal Railway Company. The purpose of creating the lake was to provide water to the residents of railway colony. At that time it was known as Pahartali Lake. Later the lake was named after British Railway Engineer Mr. Foy, who provide assistance in the design of the lake. Foy’s lake was established on 336 acres of land. The lake was formed by constructing a dam across the stream in the narrow valley between the two peaks of the hill. The dam has created this lake by changing the direction of the flow of water coming down from the hills in the northern part of Chattogram. These mountains are geologically formed by rock of double-stricken layer. Batali Hill, the highest hill in the city of Chattogram, is situated next to Foy's Lake.

There are so many things to look at in this lake. For children, there are various types of rides. Similarly, the lake and hills create an enchanting environment for adults. There are hills around the region and in the middle of the region there are lakes named Arunamayi, Godhuli, Akashmani, Mandakini, Dakshini, Alakananda. Rows of boats can be found by the banks of the lake. It takes ten minutes to go to the boat. After that an excellent resort can be found; following green hills on both sides. Sometimes visitors can figure out a couple of herons and birds of various kinds whose names are not known. In addition, there is a deer roaming place in a pleasant environment. A small zoo has been set up at the entrance of the Foy’s Lake to attract tourists. However, the main attraction of Foy’s Lake, is undoubtedly the beauty of the lake and its surrounding hills.

Concord, the largest construction company of Bangladesh, has established an amusement park in the lake, where boat trips, landscaping, restaurants, tracking and concerts are organized for the visitors. Visitors can take a boat ride to enjoy the scenic views of the lake. For this reason there are various types of boats, e.g. engine powered boats, speed boats or traditional ‘Sampan’ boats of Chattogram. The high speed roller coaster and bumper boat are available here in the recreation park. There is a leisure center which has some sort of arrangements for people of different ages and tastes. Besides having fun and excitement, people can still relax at Foy’s Lake. 'Sea World' is a water theme park in Foy’s Lake. Splash pool, water coaster ride and all other rides of a modern water park are available in Sea World. Sea World can be directly accessed by the road adjacent to the city gate. However, visitors have to reach Sea World on boat while accessing the main entrance to Foy’s Lake.

The Chattogram Zoo is located beside the Foy’s Lake. Visitors can also rent cottages. Many foreign tourists visit Foy’s Lake every year to enjoy the pleasant environment and natural beauty.
